Initiative 732

Carbon Washington was the driving force behind Initiative 732, which went before the voters in November 2016. It would have put a revenue-neutral tax on carbon, while reducing the sales tax, virtually eliminating the business tax on manufacturing (to keep manufacturers from leaving the state), and providing significant tax relief to low-income households. I-732 was defeated at the polls.
