At Carbon Washington, we are continually pushing to achieve our mission of increasing demand for climate action and fighting for smart carbon policies! We rely on our grassroots base of volunteers to make our work possible. Here are some volunteer opportunities:
Sign up to be a volunteer
Sign up to be a CarbonWA volunteer, where we will send you updates on legislative bills we support, events we will hosting or attending, and grassroots advocacy campaigns. If you would like to be more involved locally with Carbon Washington, join a local chapter!
Call your legislators
Tell them to “take action now on climate change.” You can use this call sheet, which includes a talking guide and contact information for legislators. If you do not know your legislators, you can find them at http://app.leg.wa.gov/districtfinder/.
Write your legislators
Writing your legislators is a great way to demand action. Legislators listen to their constituents, but they need to be reminded to take action. Feel free to use this draft letter to email or give directly to your legislators. If you would like guidance on what bills still need to be pursued in the legislature, contact Executive Director Kyle Murphy at email@example.com.
Write a letter to your editor
Local newspapers are a great way to engage with others about climate action. We assembled a guide, which includes writing strategies and a list of local newspapers.
Attend a legislative town hall
Town halls are a great way to connect with your representatives and voice your opinion on what bills you would like to see passed. Check out this list of town halls by county.
Create your own lobby day in Olympia
Check out our guide, where we outline important policies, how to contact your legislators to set up meetings, and other advice on successful lobby day strategies.
Attend a local climate event
Learn more about environmental issues, support critical action, connect with other organizations and individuals that support effective climate action and solutions. Check out other events near you here.
